Kyle Royer

We discovered Kyle Royer when he was about 17. The magazine articles that kept popping up showed a blademaker with talents and skills beyond his years. We immediately ordered three knives, two bowies and a hawkbill with a blade 3 1/2 inches long, which we commissioned. We offered design input along with Kyle. A friend described it as “The Perfect Knife.”

The first knife is a Gentleman’s Bowie and  forged from 1080 and 15N20 in a Four Bar “W” Twist Damascus with  a “W” Twist Damascus fittings.  The handle is Premium Desert Ironwood. This knife received the 2010 Arkansas Custom Knife Show best Best In Damascus award in Little Rock, Arkansas on February 20, 2010. Needless to say it has increased its value considerably.

The second knife is Gentleman’s Bowie with fossil ivory #90.  The blade to this knife is 10 inches and forged from 1080 and 15M20 in a Four Bar “W” Twist Damascus with “W” Twist Damascus fittings. The German Silver liners feature “Explosion” Pattern File” work.  The handle is Fossil Walrus ivory. The Kyle Royer Sheath accompanying this knife features a Rattlesnake Skin inlay.

The Hawkbill Hunter with Fossil Ivory #91 is forged from 1080 and 15N20 in a Two Bar “W” Twis t Damascus with “W” Twist Damascus fittings. The German Silver liners feature “Explosion” pattern File-Work. The handle is Fossil Walrus Ivory. The Kyle Royer Sheath accompanying this knife features a Rattlesnake Skin inlay and is made for the knife to be carried horizontally.

When we ordered these knives his waiting list was less than a year. When we sought to reorder the waiting time had grown to four years.
